How we recycle plastic
At our plant in Sampa we take plastic waste through every stage of recycling, from collection to finished pellets. This is what makes Ephtal a value-addition recycler: the waste we collect leaves our plant as a raw material that local manufacturers can use again.
We process at least 50 to 60 tonnes of plastic every month and have recycled around 500 tonnes since we started in July 2024.
Our five-stage process
- Collection & sourcing: We collect plastic waste from businesses, factories, households and communities.
- Sorting & classification: Waste is sorted by hand by type (HDPE, PP, LDPE and more) and by colour to ensure high-quality pellets.
- Shredding & crushing: Sorted plastics are shredded into small flakes for easy processing.
- Extrusion & pelletizing: The flakes are melted at high temperature and extruded into uniform, high-quality pellets.
- Cooling, quality control & packaging: Pellets are cooled, tested for quality and strength, then bagged ready for industry.
We go beyond collection. Processing waste into finished pellets creates more jobs, keeps plastic out of landfills and provides sustainable materials for local industries.
Plastics are sorted by colour before processing, so we can produce consistent single-colour and mixed-colour pellets.
Every batch is cooled and tested for quality and strength before it is bagged for our customers.
